4th Grade Junior Eagle Band
This is the first year of band at District 128. Students participating in 4th grade band have one sectional and one full band rehearsal a week. Both of these practices are from 2:45-3:30 at Navajo. Band sectionals consist of students playing a specific instrument and meeting as a group for instruction. Full band practice is when the entire band meets to practice as a group . Sectionals meet on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. A Band schedule will be posted in the music room, and it will also be made available to the homeroom teachers.
Instruments in this band are: Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone, Clarinet, Flute, Alto Saxophone, Oboe, and Percussion. New Band students that do not have instruments can rent to own an instrument through Quinlan and Fabish, a music company that our district has done business with for many years with great success. Students with their own instrument are highly encouraged to have the instrument serviced and cleaned before the school year begins. This ensures the instrument is in good working condition when the student begins the learning process.
The 4th Grade Junior Eagle Band performs at the Navajo Fine Arts Night in January, and the Spring Concert in May. Parents should check the bands calendar for dates, and details for each event will be passed out to students prior to the event and will also be posted on the band’s website.
Like any other physical activity, repetition is key. Perfect Practice Makes Perfect. Students are asked to practice every day for optimal success. Students are asked to keep track of their practice by using the practice log in the front cover of the book. These logs will be checked every week during sectionals. It is each student's goal to practice 75 minutes each week. If they reach their goal and have a parents signature, the student will receive a sticker in their book.
**Please not that students who are absent from school will not loose points for missing band. All other students who do not show up will be marked absent and loose their points. Students who have to miss do to a schedule conflict must have parents contact Mr. Everson before the day of the absence. Students must be picked up on time from practice. If a student is picked up late 3 times in a trimester, they will not be able to participate in up coming events including rehearsals.
